Devin Thorson, MS, LPCC, LADC

Outpatient Psychotherapist

I am a dually licensed mental health professional with 12 years of experience. I earned both my Bachelor’s in Alcohol and Drug Studies and my Master’s in Community Mental Health Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Over the years, I have worked in various settings—from outpatient clinics to high-intensity residential facilities—providing individual, couple, and group therapy. While I have experience treating people of all ages, I specialize in helping individuals 16 and older navigate the challenges of PTSD, complex trauma, childhood abuse, attachment injuries, and substance abuse.

My approach to therapy is highly individualized. There is no single “perfect” intervention or modality, so I focus first on getting to know you. We begin by creating a trusting, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment that promotes healing. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and have specialized training in EMDR and ART, while also integrating elements of CBT, DBT, and Internal Family Systems. I believe trauma therapy shouldn’t be traumatic; it’s not about reliving past events but rather identifying and repairing the disconnect within yourself that often follows traumatic experiences. My hope is to serve as a mirror to help you see and embrace the most authentic version of yourself!

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, listening to good music, trying (and sometimes failing at) new hobbies, and learning from the people, places, and things around me.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
